The city traffic police on Tuesday inaugurated a dedicated traffic control room in Sector 51 and launched a 24x7 helpline number (9213020404) to help commuters in distress.

The helpline number will help motorists inform traffic officials in case of long jams and road accidents.
Earlier, the city police control room received traffic-related calls and alerted the concerned officials.
“People in distress would always dial 100 and the control room operator would transfer the matter to the traffic police officer. This led to delay in action in case of emergencies,” joint commissioner of police, Maheshwar Dayal, said.
Commuters can also lodge a complaint against any official found harassing anyone or seeking a bribe.
A dedicated employee would also track each cop deployed in different parts of the city.
