Nearly three days after armed robbers barged into the house of a corporate honcho at the upscale Exclusive Floors in DLF City, the police have finally registered the complaint as a case of robbery. This comes after reports in HT highlighting the police department's apathy.

The house owners — Nitin Kumar and Chetna Manglik — were away at a party on Saturday night when the incident took place. While Nitin is the managing director in a software firm, his wife is the HR head in another firm. Nitin's 55-year-old mother Indrani Singh, 8-year-old twins and domestic help, who were present in the house at that time, were held hostage by the robbers.

On Sunday, Nitin found that the police had converted the robbery case into a case of simple theft.

After much persuasion, the police agreed to convert it into a robbery case. Then again, the police left out many crucial details in the case such as the number of robbers and the fact that they were armed with knives.

The family met the police commissioner on Monday after the SHO refused to listen to them and allegedly used abusive language.

"After newspaper reports, the police had to change the FIR. The SHO has been removed from the case and the DCP (crime) is in charge now," Chetna said.
