The 100-bed facility, at present, has three life-support ambulances and six simple ambulances. The hospital, which sees the average footfall of more than 2,000 daily, has also been facing shortage of staff.

According to the hospital authorities, the revamp process is aimed at obtaining certificates from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).The NABH accreditation is considered a benchmark for the progress of a health care facility in terms of providing services to the patients.

The officials have proposed a tool kit manual for setting standard criteria for emergency services. Transportation of patients, need for equipment and manpower, infrastructure aspects of accidents, emergency and trauma departments are some of the major issues that will be addressed during the revamp process.

"We are planning to make a common emergency document that will serve as a guideline to uniform the emergency services in the state. It is one of the major factors that have to be worked on to acquire the NABH accreditation," said Dr Asruddin, principal medical officer (PMO), Civil Hospital, Gurgaon.

"The recruitment is set to begin from Wednesday. Apart from this, if any hospital faces shortage of equipment, it will be addressed at the earliest," Dr Asruddin said.
