Gurgaon: MCG razes illegal structures on encroached land
The enforcement wing of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) on Friday razed illegal structures on unauthorised plots mushrooming on a four-acre private land at Kherki Dhaula village near National Highway-8 and New Palam Vihar in Old Gurgaon.
The enforcement wing of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) on Friday razed illegal structures on unauthorised plots mushrooming on a four-acre private land at Kherki Dhaula village near National Highway-8 and New Palam Vihar in Old Gurgaon.
“It was a regular raid during which we razed construction carried out on sub-division plots of four acre at Kherki Dhaula and 250 yards in New Palam Vihar areas. The plots had been carved out and the foundation laid for successive structures to come up at the spot,” an MCG official said.
The civic body does not have information about the owner of the land. Some officials say green belts were encroached and plots carved out violating all rules. “The enforcement wing of the civic body is responsible for cracking down on any illegal construction. The registrar of the revenue administration, which is in-charge of passing the plots, gives leeway for such unauthorised plots to be constructed,” the official said.
Some councillors in the city also feel that the problem of unauthorised colonies has been compounded by the lack of assessment during allotment of plots by the registrar.
In another crackdown, the Department of Town and Country Planning razed 35 illegal structures along a 30-metre restricted belt on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Scheduled Road.
The structures demolished included a developer’s site office, 13 shops, 11 roadside eateries and six labour quarters.
