The complainant, a divorcee and mother of two, said the accused worked with her in British Airlines and he supported her during her divorce in 2015. She said that she had come to India to assist the accused as he was having legal issues in Jalandhar. In the first week of August, during their stay in the hotel, he allegedly forced himself upon her, abused her and engaged in unnatural sex, to which she strongly objected.

She said she visited the city in September to resolve the issue but he refused to meet her and threatened to post her photos and videos on social media. He allegedly sent the photos and videos to a friend and both of them were asking her to pay 30,000 pounds each. She said she paid them 1,000 pounds.

Inspector Kailash, the station house officer of the women’s police station, said that a case has been registered against the two and the matter is being probed. “The victim and the accused are NRIs and have known each other for long,” she said.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a woman in Basai Enclave complained to the police that a man had taken obscene pictures of her and threatened to put her pictures on social media websites. A case has been registered against the accused under section 354D of the IPC at Sector 10 police station.
