“Live your dreams and follow your passion,” is the motto of rock band Rewind, a motto that found traction with a group of people who came to enjoy the band’s rock music at city pub on Sunday in a Sector 30, Gurgaon.

The six-member band hit the floor and held each and every person at the venue spellbound with their music. People were seen dancing and keeping rhythm with the band’s performance.

“I enjoyed the music and hope this band perform here more often, said Nidhi Kaushik, who came with her friends.

The members of Rewind are all IT professionals and alumni of IIT-BHU. They take time out from their busy schedules to practice music before performing live in various cities.

This is the second time that they are performing in Gurgaon. The band, which was formed six years ago, said they like the city as it has a lively crowd.

“For many of us, who are intensely passionate about any genre of music, some of the musical numbers go back to our campus days, which served as a defining phase of our lives in so many ways. In IIT-BHU, this connection runs very deep with classic rock,” said Rahul Sharma, a band member, who played base for the group.

Members Gaurav Kumbadt, Prashanth Venkatesh and Nandit Pathak travel to Gurgaon to practise every three months.

Talking about the inception of the band, the members said in 2010, they were shocked to hear about the death of an alumnus from IIT-BHU, who had succumbed to cancer. He was one of the most talented guitarist to ever grace the campus, they said. In an effort to immortalise his legacy, the members decided to form a band -- to go back to the campus and play music.

“We practice individually after office -- coordinating over conference calls and coming together to practice as a group once in three months. We have performed in different cities , all at our own expense. Members live in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Gurgaon,” said Ankit Mital, guitarist.

“We have plans to perform in Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore as well,” said Shamik Talukdar, keyboard player.
