Gurgaon to get seven new CNG stations

The city will soon get seven new compressed natural gas (CNG) stations, including two on the national highway-8. An official of the Haryana City Gas Distribution Limited has said the land has been been acquired for the facilities and the work will start soon.

The two pumps along NH-8 will be set up at Sectors 15 and 31. Besides these, there will be one station on the Sohna Road, two in Old Gurgaon and two in new Gurgaon areas.

Chairman and managing director of the Haryana City Gas Distribution Satish Chopra said, “The construction of the two filling stations along the national highway will take about two months while the rest will take six months as forest clearance for them is still to be obtained.”

With increased number of vehicles plying in Gurgaon, there is a dire need of more CNG filling stations, besides the five existing ones. There are, currently, four CNG filling stations for the general public and one is dedicated for Haryana Roadways buses. Also, out of approximately 22,000 registered autos in Gurgaon, about 80 % are CNG-based.
