The Department of Urban Local Bodies is also taking stock of the infrastructure and other public facilities in the sectors, which will be brought under the civic body for maintenance works.

After the survey, the Huda would upgrade the infrastructure wherever it is required.

"The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) needs to have manpower on par with the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF). Currently, MCG's manpower is much less than the MCF and with a handful of staff it would be impossible to maintain all the sectors currently under the Huda or other areas under private developers," said Ram Niwas, financial commissioner-cum-principal secretary, government of Haryana.

Faridabad civic body has about 5,000 employees, while the MCG has only 464 regular staff.

The official refused to give any time line for the shift.

The MCG is currently maintaining only one-third of the city areas — mainly urban villages and regularised colonies in old city. However, the civic body has started collecting property taxes from the entire city.

All the 35 councillors too have been making this demand.
