The Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) is working on alternative sources of power for the Basai water treatment plant to avoid a crisis. In three to four weeks' time, two water boosting stations at Sector 16 and Sector 51, which receive power supply from DHBVN feeders at Sector 10 and Daulatabad, would be connected to both so they can be used interchangeably in case of a power failure at one of the power stations.

Huda administrator Praveen Kumar has asked officials to arrange an additional 630kv to aid raw water boosting from the canal to the plant.
"We need to do a survey at the plant before installing a change over switch. A separate line will be laid with all equipment and this all need some time," said the Huda executive engineer (electrical) HUDA.
Three pumps are connected to the Sector 10 feeder to lift water for the boosting station at Sector 16 and two are connected to the Daulatabad feeder to supply water to the Sector 51 station. Power tripping or failure, even for a minute, at either of the plants disrupts supply for hours.
