Land records go digital, to check fake sale deeds

Deputy commissioner PC Meena on Wednesday reviewed the ongoing computerisation of land records in the district.

He set a March 31 target for revenue officials to integrate the Haryana Registration Information System (HARIS) and the Haryana Land Record Information System (HALRIS) in the system. Once integrated - the most important step in the process of digitisation - sale of land by fraudulent means will be easier to check.

On registration of a sale deed of any immovable property or piece of land, it will be reflected in the jamabandi. After this, incorporating the name of buyers in the mutation register would be simpler. At present, buyers usually avoid entry of mutations after registration of sale deeds.

According to Meena, land records of 54 villages have been integrated with HALRIS and HARIS.

For the first time in Gurgaon, land records have been successfully integrated with the registration system.
