The project, in which the 5 km stretch from Iffco Chowk to the Gurgaon-Delhi border will be re-carpeted, had been awaiting the government’s nod for the last seven months.

Due to some technical issues, the authorities had not given their consent to the project due to which it had been delayed. Huda had invited some reputed consultants to re-carpet the stretch with cold-milling technology but the department could not materialise the deal.

However, brushing aside all earlier speculations about the cold-milling technology and inviting a Tata enterprise for the re-carpeting work, the Haryana government has now asked the public works department building and road (PWD-B&R) to complete re-carpeting work on the MG Road.

During a meeting held last week, Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had asked the PWD B&R to float tenders and complete work at the earliest.

However, an official in the PWD B&R refused to comment stating, “I have no idea about it. I am hearing about it from the media.”

Meanwhile, Huda is carrying out repair work on both sides of the service lanes on MG Road.

The road had been damaged during the rainy season. However, following pressure from a top bureaucrat to expedite work on the pending project, Huda is trying to complete the re-carpeting work.
