Multiple agencies confuse residents

The presence of multiple authorities — the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda), Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) — have left the city denizens in a quandary as they don’t know whom to approach for their grievances.

The issue came to light during Hindustan Times’ interaction with several RWAs on Saturday as part of its initiative to highlight its problems.

A resident living in Huda-developed area has to approach Huda for his problem while those residing in areas developed by private players areas have to approach the DTCP. The rest of urban Gurgaon comes under the MCG.

According to residents, the confounding issue of multiplicity of departments, functioning parallel to each other, has caused severe mismanagement in the city.

Citing an example of registration of property, Col BK Dhawan, a resident of Silver Oaks, said, “There are three different departments under the Haryana government to register any property — DTCP, revenue department and registrar general of society. This has led to confusion among residents.”
