New court dispensary remains without staff

However, contrary to the court officials’ and district health department’s claim that a doctor and a pharmacist would be present during working hours, the dispensary is unattended most of the time.

The one-room dispensary was inaugurated by Punjab and Haryana High Court judge MM Kumar, during an annual inspection.

According to officials concerned, the medical service should be available for lawyers, litigants and judicial staff from Monday and Saturday between 10am to 4pm. However, post-lunch, no medical staff could be seen in the dispensary.

When this was pointed out to the court officials, they maintained that medical staff was supposed to be present till evening. Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Gurgaon civil hospital, Pravin Garg said that he will look into the matter and ensure that medical staff is present during the stipulated time. He also assured that he would ask a doctor stationed at the adjoining Mini Secretariat to oversee the court’s dispensary.
