The Agro-Met Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, has predicted that dry and cold weather conditions may prevail up to January 13. Thereafter, partly cloudy weather may follow.

The maximum temperature is likely to range from 10.6 degrees Celsius and 12.4 degree Celsius, while the minimum is expected between -1.5 degrees Celsius and 2.5 degrees Celsius.
In the wake of the extreme cold, farm scientists at the university have advised farmers to irrigate the wheat crop for the first time after 22 days and the second round of irrigation at 45 days after sowing.
They advised farmers to take care of the mustard crop. Damage due to frost can be avoided if farms are irrigated moderately and smoked. The high humidity and dense fog is breeding ground for white rust and Alternaria blight in the mustard crop.
For vegetable crops, light irrigation should help to deal with the humid weather conditions. Blight incidence may occur in potato and tomato crops. Hence, farmers have been advised to spray the recommended fungicide and cover the young fruit plants with straw to protect them from ground frost conditions.
Farmers should also protect their livestock from the cold wave by keeping their animals in a shed and making sure that the ground is dry.
