The two-member Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice (rtd) SN Jha to probe the Jat agitation in February, has received only one complaint, in the form of a CD, so far.
Complainants have three days left to submit their grievances to the commission office in Gurgaon.
The Haryana government appointed the commission of inquiry in April to investigate the sequence of events that caused the Jat violence in the state from February 18 to 23 in Rohtak, Jhajjar, Jind, Hissar, Sonepat, Bhiwani, Khaital and Panipat districts. The commission was formed under the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1952.
“One CD has been received by the office through the post. We are yet to see the contents of the CD, which will be done after July 17. The committee will take action only on the complaints received by us and not any other evidence,” said Justice (rtd) SN Jha.
The committee, in a public notice issued on June 16, appealed to the people “affected to file complaints along with documents in proof of the allegations made therein supported by affidavit duly sworn by the victim or their acquaintance with the facts within thirty days of the publication of the notice,” that is till July 17.
Specially mentioning the alleged Murthal gang-rape incident, the committee said they would inquire into the problems faced by people after receiving formal complaints.

{{/usCountry}}“The committee will consider the complaints given to us in written form only. The identity of the victim or complainant will be kept secret if they want. The women can also freely come up to us as there are women representatives to listen to their ordeals,” said former IPS officer NC Padhi.
The final report of the committee will be submitted to the state government six months after their first sitting.
