A day after Hindustan Times carried a story on the plight of former Union health and welfare minister Dr Shakeelur Rehman, who has been overcharged by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) due to a faulty power meter, the agency has assured that the bill would be corrected.

Officials have agreed to adjust Rs11,000 in the next power bill and regretted the inconvenience caused to the ailing minister.
A resident of South City-1 in Gurgaon, the 71-year-old heart patient had claimed the department was not paying heed despite repeated complaints.
Rehman said, “My meter was not working so I requested the department and got it changed. To my surprise, the new meter reading started from 2,402 units and the bill for December-January came to around Rs15,000.”
Taking serious note of the issue after the HT report, Rehman got a call from the DHBVN executive engineer of the area.
“The official apologised for the inconvenience and assured that an amount of Rs11,000 would be adjusted in next bills,” the former minister said.
He added, “As I have already made the payment, the official said it would be difficult to refund the money but the amount would be adjusted.”
