Seven candidates were elected out of 33 and the executive members of the governing body will be elected from the seven winners within 60 days.

About 30 policemen were deployed in and around the voting venue, anticipating trouble during the polls. Six booths were prepared for polling.

The last election of the society was held in 2007 but the elected body was dismissed within two years, Rajpal Madan, one of the contestants, said. There were 2,764 eligible voters.

Two panels of seven candidates each and two with five candidates each contested the polls, assistant registrar of cooperative societies Rishi Kumar said. Four candidates were elected from the general category, two seats were reserved for women and one was for a candidate from scheduled categories.

Earlier this month, the state government constituted a commission under the chairmanship of former Indian Administrative Service officer SP Sharma to resolve the issues pertaining to membership and assets of the society. The office of the commission will be in Gurgaon.

Other members of the commission are additional deputy commissioner, district town planner and Gurgaon cooperative societies deputy registrar.
