Tension gripped the industrial township in Manesar on Thursday after the second round of negotiations between the Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) Employees Union and the company management over the reinstatement of two suspended workers failed.

The talks ended on a confronting note as the union rejected the management's argument that the workers will be reinstated only if their replies to a show-cause notice are found to be satisfactory.
Workers Naresh Yadav and Jaibir Yadav, an executive member of the labour union, were suspended last Monday after they had an altercation with a production manager over the issue of overtime duty and leave.
The first round of talks held on Tuesday didn't yield any results.
"The management is stretching the negotiations. They are sending officials who are not authorised to take decisions in this regard," said Ashok Yadav, president of the HMSI employee union, after coming out of Thursday's meeting that lasted more than an hour and was mediated by the labour department.
