Earlier, the traffic police had removed roundabouts from the area for the smooth flow of traffic. Senior officials of the traffic department, Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) held a meeting on Monday to improve traffic scenario in the area.

“After removing the roundabouts near Huda City Centre Metro station, we are now focusing to shift the exit gate from the front side to the hospital’s rear. The plan was in the pipeline for some time. Earlier, we initiated the move to reduce traffic congestion and will replicate the same in other areas too. There is a plan to decongest traffic in the old city,” said a traffic official.

Earlier, Huda had reduced the size of the roundabout near the Huda City Centre crossing and removed three others.

With the number of vehicles having increased manifold, traffic scenario has worsened in the city.

According to experts, roundabouts can handle vehicle flow of 5,000 cars per hour.

Beyond this, the section should be converted into a signalised intersection.

“Earlier, heavy traffic jams were the order of the day especially during peak rush hours at the Huda City Centre but after the roundabout was removed, the scenario has improved considerably,” said a traffic police official.
