Underprivileged kids get mobile school

Pernod Ricard India donated a mobile school to them on Tuesday.

The school is run by an NGO - AID India, Gurgaon chapter of the Association for India's Development (AID). The NGO is currently running four schools across different locations in Gurgaon.

Moved by the plight of children studying in a small room without proper ventilation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) team at Pernod Ricard India decided to customise a one-room mobile school.

The school has all basic amenities and will provide shelter to 40 students, all in the age group of 5-12 years. The one-room school can be easily shifted to other locations whenever the labour force shifts.

A Gurgaon resident, Rajesh Singh, has offered his land for running the school. The initiative is part of a dedicated CSR programme run by Pernod Ricard India for more than a decade.

The aim is to help underprivileged children by providing basic health facilities through three fully-equipped dispensaries, specific health check camps and donation of educational materials to schools in rural areas etc.
