The father of a five-year-old rape victim, who was found abandoned near Sikanderpur Metro station on June 15, has alleged police inaction in the case.

“Even after three weeks, no action has been taken against the culprit. They (police officers) keep saying that it is difficult to get hold of the criminal if he has escaped to another state,” says Sudhir Singh (name changed), the victim’s father.

According to sources, the girl’s internal injuries will take another two months to heal and two more surgeries will be conducted upon her to relocate her intestine that is hanging out of her body.

Narrating his tormenting experience with the police, Singh says that the protection given to him at the hospital was actually to prevent the case from being highlighted by the media.

In another incident that took place in October last year, father of a minor victim says there was no help from the administration after the accused were arrested.

“There was no monetary help from the authorities. I am not able to send my daughter to a school,” he said.

The girl was initially examined at the Gurgaon Civil Hospital, where the doctors confirmed rape and referred her to Safdarjung Hospital for a reconstructive surgery.
