Many residents have been waiting for their unique identification (Aadhaar) card for more than six months even though government departments have linked the document for offering various services to the people.

The government has made Aadhaar Card mandatory in procuring LPG connections, issuing passport and sale-purchase of houses.
But, the district food and supply department which looks after the distribution of Aadhaar card is yet to announce the date of distribution of the cards.
The Gurgaon Citizens' Council (GCC) - a forum which represents all private localities - has written a letter to deputy commissioner PC Meena, seeking his intervention in the matter. "There are people who applied six months ago and still have not got their Aadhaar cards. They run around from one department to another at the Mini Secretariat, where the administration's all offices are located, but of no use," alleged RS Rathee, president of GCC.
Many applicants are forced to pay Rs 500 penalty for not providing the UID number in the sale and purchase of houses.
"People are paying Rs 500 penalty in sale-purchase deal of properties since they do not have the Aadhaar card," alleged the president. The DC could not be reached for comment.
