Work on Sohna elevated corridor to start by Sept 21

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will build the elevated road, which will be treated as a national highway.

After missing a number of deadlines, work on the 5.5-km-long elevated corridor from Subhash Chowk to Badshahpur on Sohna Road is all set to begin on September 21, Haryana PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh announced on Monday.

The corridor will start from Subhash Chowk and will end a little after the Badshahpur village ends. It will enable commuters to bypass this congested stretch, which witnesses heavy traffic jams, particularly during peak hours.

Singh announced, on Monday, that work on the stretch would start on September 21, and will be completed before the next assembly elections.

Singh, who was addressing a public meeting in Badshahpur, said that machinery and equipment for construction of the road have arrived. “The road will help commuters by reducing congestion and travel time between Gurugram and Badshahpur. Work will start on September 21,”he said.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will build the elevated road, which will be treated as a national highway. The NHAI officials said that the elevated road would be second longest elevated stretch in Haryana after the 10-km-long flyover in Panipat.

Thousands of residents living in Badshahpur and along the Sohna Road, besides people commuting to Sohna would benefit from the construction of this elevated road.

Apart from constructing the elevated stretch, the NHAI will also develop the 96-km long Sohna-Alwar Road. It would consist of stretches varying from four to six lanes. In places where it is not possible to expand the road, the NHAI will build flyovers and underpasses.
