Majority of the TIs do not have an internet facility. Besides, some of them are not internet-savvy. The commuters have been posting grievances on the traffic police page of Facebook. But the idea does not seem to be working for the want of computers.

None of the inspectors has been given any internet connection or computer facilities by the department. "We have not been given computer and internet facilities. I use my personal mobile phone to check the emails," said a traffic inspector on the condition of anonymity.

Another traffic inspector said he is not comfortable at using a computer. "I get the information through SMS from the control room or from senior officials," he said.

Last week, email IDs of all 11 TIs in the city were created. As per the guidelines issued by the department, the TIs are required to take the action on the complaints sent on their email IDs and reply to the control room the next day. The control room then uploads the reply on the traffic police's Facebook page.

The senior traffic official said that with this new concept senior police can monitor the performance of all TIs.
