A stroke of laser light may be enough to help those willing to quit smoking.

A handful of Delhi clinics are now offering laser-driven technology to those desperately wanting to quit cigarettes, claiming that the method is much easier and free from side effects.

The treatment, which is based on acupuncture, creates a bio-stimulative effect on the body parts responsible for addiction.

"Addiction to nicotine or tobacco is caused by decrease in formation of endomorphines, a morphine like chemical released inside the body. A soft beam from the Nicolite laser hits the affected body parts and increases the level of endomorphine and patients stop craving for cigarettes," claimed Parichay Upadhyay, President of New Look Laser Clinic in New Delhi.

There are 31 stimulating points on the body which are located on ears, nose, forehead, wrist, arms and fingers.

Patients with strong addiction require only a couple of sessions of less than half an hour, irrespective of the intensity or the period of being in addiction. Results also depend upon the will power of the patients.
