The early days of marriage are dominated by eating out. Keep in mind these points to avoid putting on weight.

Balance it out: The early days of marriage are dominated by eating out. Watch the portion size of what you are eating and do not binge unnecessarily. It is also important to ensure you exercise properly to balance out what you are eating.

‘Pre-pare’ the host: Most newly-wed couples usually eat out at endless family dinners and lunches. The menu usually comprises foods high in calories. It may be a good idea to request your hosts to keep the menu light and healthy. And if you are feeling awkward to do so, ask your spouse to do so.

Reduce the speed of eating: Men tend to eat more than women. Hence, when accompanying your husband, try eating slowly. The intent should be to give company and not eat as much.

Say no to aerated drinks: Try to maintain a healthy lifestyle with regular intake of fruit juices, nimbu paani, aam panna, butter milk, etc. A balanced, nutritious diet should be the mantra.
