Stay healthy this diwali
Here's how to take care of your health during the festive season.
Here's how to take care of your health during the festive season.1 Do the math: Experts suggest that on an average, Indians may consume upto 1500 calories extra per day during festivals! While it is not possible to say no all the time, you can curb your appetite for them and consume smaller quantities. Little restraint will go a long way in maintaining a healthy body.
2 Sugar-free food: The food item needs to be low on calories. So, go for sugar-free sweets and candies.
4 Make wise choice: Rasgullas have been found to be the lightest on calories, whereas gulab jamuns and jalebis are high on calories. Other good options include rice puddings like kheer which can be made with low-fat milk and seasoned with raisins to reduce the use of sugar.
5 Get active: It may get difficult to work out with Diwali fun, but try to take time out for some exercise everyday. Even 15-20 minutes of daily walks will take care of some of the extra calories being consumed. (With inputs from Kajal Gupta, Nutritionist)
