In the early morning at 2:29 am (IST) on June 29 ISRO’s GSAT-17, a communications and weather satellite, will be launched on a French satellite vehicle from Kourou in French Guiana, an overseas department of France that is located in South America.

This is the 21st ISRO satellite to be launched by Arianespace, a multinational company that is headquartered in France and is the world’s first commercial launch service provider.
The launcher will also be carrying the Hellas Sat 3-Inmarsat S EAN. Both satellites will be launched into their orbits during a 39-minute flight sequence.
The GSAT-17 is the third satellite to be launched by ISRO in a month. Last week on June 23, India’s space agency launched the Cartosat 2 series satellite from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. On June 5, ISRO launched the heaviest geostationary rocket, the GSLV MK III that carried the communication satellite GSAT-19 into space.
