Is Amitabh Bachchan’s baritone going to be a part the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby? At least that’s what one of his tweets suggests.
Big B’s tweet on the micro-blogging website states: “The Great Gatsby official opening film for Cannes Film festival, May 15th…come one come all…half blink and you miss role for me (sic).” Later, he also tweets: “Baz Luhrmann just informs me about Cannes... there is excitement all around... Jazz y wanting to use my voice in sound track… sure (sic).”
Also, Bachchan informs that the film’s premiere might take place in New York, USA, on May 1 this year. “But to be confirmed…I shall be there, you bet (sic).”

Cannes “breaks” tradition with The Great Gatsby
The Cannes Film Festival, whose 66th edition will unroll on May 15, has reportedly gone against tradition in choosing Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby as the opening night movie.
The film will hit North American theatres on May 10, five days before the start of Cannes. The Festival has – at least for the past 10 years – reserved the opening slot for a movie that has not been screened elsewhere.

The Cannes Film Festival will open on May 15 with Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. To play out of competition, the movie is bound to set Cannes on an exciting 12-day cruise along the Mediterranean Sea with the fizz of Champagne and the finest of cheese. Adding luminosity to the evening’s Red Carpet will the film’s director, Australia’s Luhrmann, and principal star cast, Leonardo DiCaprio (Django Unchained, J. Edgar and Shutter Island, while his Titanic remains an all-time favourite), Tobey Maguire (the Spiderman series and The Good German) and Carey Mulligan (Public Enemies and Brothers).
The opening evening at Cannes will have one Indian attraction, Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan (along with American pop star, rapper Jay-Z). Although had an Indian movie opened Cannes, it would have made perfect sense for the Focus India which the Festival plans this time.
