At long last, the first images from Disney’s upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast have arrived, courtesy a grand spread in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly.
With cutting-edge special effects, detailed costumes, huge sets, and of course, stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in the titular lead roles, the film is one of the most anticipated of 2017.
In this set of images, we get great first looks at not only Belle and the Beast, but also the memorable side characters from the original animated film - Luke Evans as Belle’s suitor Gaston, Ewan McGregor as the thickly-accented candelabra Lumiere, Sir Ian McKellan as Cogsworth the clock.
The film is directed by Bill Condon, who has previously helmed the final two Twilight movies and the acclaimed Dreamgirls. It arrives on March 17, and amid the recent resurgence of live-action Disney fantasies like Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful, Maleficent and The Jungle Book.
