We might believe that everyone’s favourite Autobots— Bumblebee and Optimus Prime — made it to Earth when they battled Megatron alongside Sam (Shia LaBeouf) in the first Transformers movie, but everything we know is about to change.
The newest sequel, Transformers: The Last Knight’s promotion has been focussing on the call to “rethink the past”, as its story promises to usher in a completely new mythology for the Transformers, changing what we know about their history and place in today’s world. While the newest TV spot and a few posters give us a great view into all that is set to change, it is Bumblebee’s historical appearance that has got social media buzzing.
The Autobot is shown battling the Nazis during World War II in the trailer which is narrated by Sir Edmund Burton (played by Anthony Hopkins) who claims to know the secret history of the Transformers. Bumblebee’s look too, is different from the usual yellow Chevrolet Camaro like style and resembles the classic G1 style body.
The TV Spot also showed us WWII isn’t the only time period that is expected to appear in the movie as it will also include Arthurian elements (Liam Garrigan is reportedly playing King Arthur in the sequel) and might also include battles with samurai in medieval Japan, which will have a samurai-themed Autobot named Drift (voiced by Ken Watanabe).
