Kumar was best known for his wit and colourful personality. Once, the producer of his film paid him only half his fee for the film, so landed up on the sets with only half his make up. When the producer asked him what he was up to, he said, “

Aadha paisa to aadha make-up

”. He also used to have a signboard that read ‘beware of Kishore’ outside his residence.
