The international trailer for Looper, starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) and Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau), was released online June 27, setting up the sci-fi story.
Set in the year 2042, this action thriller follows a mob hitman who assassinates targets from the future -- the job of a looper. But eliminating people from the year 2072 gets complicated when the job means he has to kill himself, the older Joe.
The footage shows the resemblance between Willis and Gordon-Levitt, and their characters. Things get tense for the hitman when he time travels to the past and faces the reality of becoming his own target.
The film is directed by Rian Johnson, who shot The Brothers Bloom with Adrien Brody, Mark Ruffalo and Rachel Weisz. Blunt plays the romantic interest and Jeff Daniels (State of Play) is also featured.
The film releases September 27-28 in Russia, Brazil, Sweden, the UK and North America. On October it opens in Australia, European, Asian and Latin American markets, from Argentina to France.Trailer:
