Google asked to reveal source of Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer leak
Marvel goes to court to help unearth details about a Google user 'John Gazelle', who is believed to have uploaded the trailer of Avengers 2 a week before it was due to appear.
Marvel had reacted with a nonchalant, "Dammit Hydra" when the trailer of its upcoming film, Avengers: Age of Ultron was leaked online a week ahead of its release. However, the response belied a decision by the comic book major to bring the person behind the leak to justice.
Instead of Avengers fictional villain Hydra, Marvel is looking for a Google user John Gazelle, who they believe illegally uploaded the file. A US judge has complied with the request that Google hand over all the details of this person.
The case will next come up for hearing on November 18.
Marvel was initially supposed to premiere the hugely anticipated promo during an ad break in the TV show Agents of SHIELD. However, they were forced to upload it much sooner after the leak.
