Harrison Ford suffering from amnesia after plane crash

The Star Wars icon revealed that he has retrograde amnesia, a loss of memory-access to events that occurred before an injury.

Seven months after his near-fatal plane crash, Hollywood star Harrison Ford has opened up about the accident. Over seven months ago, Ford was flying solo when his small, vintage two-seater fighter plane malfunctioned, forcing him to crash land at the Penmar Golf Course in the US.

The 73-year-old actor, who is an experienced pilot, said he remembers few things about the incident, reported People magazine.

“Yeah I remember. Not all of it, I remember some of it. I remember the engine stopping, I remember that part very well. And then I remember the tower, I remember their suggestion. Their suggestion was that I take the normal route to land and I knew I wasn’t going to do that, so I said no. And that’s the last thing that I remember until five days afterwards actually,” Ford said at Jimmy Kimmel’s show. This was his first interview following the crash.

The Star Wars icon revealed that he has retrograde amnesia, a loss of memory-access to events that occurred before an injury, according to his doctors. “I’m told by the doctors that the amount of general anaesthetic that I received…gave me retrograde amnesia.”
