Hereditary: Watch the trailer of the movie critics are calling the ‘most insane’ horror ‘masterpiece’ of 2018
Watch the creepy first trailer for Hereditary, the most buzzed about horror film at the Sundance Film Festival.
Ever since it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2018, Hereditary, a new horror movie directed by debutant Ari Aster has been attracting headlines like this one by USA Today, ‘Hereditary is the most insane horror movie in years,’ or this one by VICE, calling it the ‘horror movie that traumatized Sundance,’ or The AV Club’s declaration that it is ‘the most traumatically terrifying horror movie in ages.’ And now, Hereditary has a trailer and a release date.
Here’s the official synopsis: “When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited.”
Hereditary followed in the footsteps of fellow Sundance horror breakouts such as The Witch and It Comes At Night. Time Out called it ‘a new generation’s Exorcist,’ while JoBlo declared it to be the ‘21st century’s Rosemary’s Baby.’
The film currently holds a 100% rating on review aggregator website, Rotten Tomatoes. It’s scheduled for a June 28 release in the US. Here are some reactions right out of Sundance:
