While Daniel Craig or James Bond producers are yet to confirm that search is on for a new 007, reports suggest that a new actor has already been shortlisted to play His Majesty’s iconic agent.
Damian Lewis, whose turn as Sergeant Nicholas Brody on Homeland brought him both accolades and awards, might just be the “special one” to replace Craig as James Bond.
According to the Mirror, a source has revealed that if Daniel Craig left the Bond series, it was Lewis who would be crowned the new Bond, adding that the bosses were convinced Homeland star was their man. The source added that Lewis was an all-round international star who was perfect for the role and looked increasingly suave and sophisticated.
Recently, Craig has hinted that he was ready to quit the role when he was asked if he would like to play Bond one more time. He had said when asked about the chances of playing Bond one more time: “At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. But we’ll see.”
The new Bond film, Spectre, releases later this year and a lot will depend on how the film fares. If Spectre is a huge success, the producers may offer an even more lucrative contract to Craig, making it hard for him to refuse.
