I am having a midlife crisis: Colin Firth

The 53-year-old star has just finished filming scenes for his action-packed role in the film, Freebird, which required hours of high intensity work outs with personal trainers.

has joked that he has been going through midlife crisis for more than two decades.

The Before I Go To Sleep actor said it will go on for next 25 years, reported Daily Mirror.

"My midlife crisis has been going on about 25 years. I haven't accepted that it's anything other than midlife, it will probably go on for another 25 years," he said.

The 53-year-old star has just finished filming scenes for his action-packed role in the film, Freebird, which required hours of high intensity work outs with personal trainers.

When asked how it felt to prepare for the role, Firth said, "There was this strange paradox. How can I feel more active and fitter than I've ever been when I'm supposed to be embracing my deterioration?"

The actor also emphasised that he never worries about where his next role will come from, although he did admit that he cares about the quality of the films he works on.

"I don't think I've ever hit a point where I thought, 'Where's the next job coming from?' I've hit the point frequently where I thought, 'Where's the next good job coming from?' I think dissatisfaction is ever present."
