Indian musical duos are scoring big on the football field. While the Delhi-based electronica pair, Midival Punditz has licensed a track from its latest studio offering, Hello Hello, to the 2010 FIFA World Cup official video game, composers Salim-Sulaiman Merchant have composed a sports anthem for the Cup. All thanks to them, India is being represented well at the mega sports event.

The news has Punditz excited. “The authorities, this year, wanted to pick music from across the globe. And the dhol-centric mix of our electronic ‘vocal’ track, Atomizer represents India in a big way. It’s catchy and universal,” says Gaurav Raina on the duo’s behalf. He says it’s interesting to work on projects like these. “The game features an interesting line-up of international biggies such as Basement Jaxx, Sergio Mendes, and Michael Franti and Spearhead. We’re glad to have made it in there,” he adds.

The track, co-written by percussionist Karsh Kale, isn’t Punditz’ first for a video game, though. Many of their tracks from previous albums have been featured on games such as Need for Speed - Cabon, Project Gotham Racing 3 and Ashes Cricket 2009.
