The actress best known for her roles in Battlestar Galactica and Riddick, is reportedly in talks to play one of Marvel Comics' female superheroes, the lead character of a new film.

Katee Sackhoff is rumored to be joining the Marvel family, following a vague confession she made on the Schmoes Know podcast. The actress did not reveal any details on the project, but she mentioned being asked about her availability during the first quarter of 2014.

Sackhoff's slip coincides with similar indications from Louis D'Esposito, the producer of Marvel Studios. During an interview with Comingsoon.net, the executive left room to believe that a new film focusing on a female superhero could be in the works. D'Esposito mentioned the superheroes Black Widow, Pepper Potts and Peggy Carter, who have already made their way to the big screen, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Hayley Atwell, respectively. Given that Sackhoff was asked about her availability in early 2014, however, when, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, is slated to be filmed, the actress is more likely to be in the running for the role of Captain Marvel, a.k.a. Carol Danvers, a former US Air Force pilot endowed with super powers.
