Singer Demi Lovato has reportedly been hospitalised in Los Angeles. According to a report by TMZ, she was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after a heroin overdose.
The report also suggests that she was taken to the hospital from her home in Hollywood and is currently being treated. Her condition is not known. Law enforcement officials also told TMZ that the patient was being treated with Narcan, a medication used to reverse the opioid overdose.
A representative for the Los Angeles Fire Department told People magazine they ‘transported a 25-year-old female patient to a local hospital’ from an address that matches Lovato’s.
Lovato has been vocal about her struggle with addiction and eating disorder. In 2011, she was treated for bipolar disorder, bulimia and addiction. In June 2018 she released a song, Sober, detailing how she had relapsed after the treatment. The lyrics of the song goes, “Momma, I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore; And daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor; To the ones who never left me; We’ve been down this road before; I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.”
Fellow pop star Ariana Grande offered her support after the hospitalization report. She tweeted at Lovato, “I love you.”
Demi Lovato rose to fame with her Disney Channel movie, Camp Rock and went on to become a pop star with hit songs like Give Your Heart A Break and Cool For The Summer.
More information regarding Demi’s condition is awaited.
