Police said the firing allegedly took place during a dance programme at the ceremony organised for the son of one Krishna Yadav. Locals alleged that the groom's brother climbed onto the stage with a pistol and fired shots in celebration.

They said the weapon initially failed to fire. While he was allegedly attempting to reload it after lowering the pistol, it went off, and the bullet struck the boy in the head. The boy was among those watching the programme.

The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

"All the accused are absconding. Police teams are conducting raids to arrest them," he said.
