70-yr-old Bengal man refuses to pay son after selling trees, burnt to death

Baidyanath Biswas of Rabanbar village sold some trees for Rs 90,000 and his son Abodh Biswas burnt him to death on being refused his share of the money.

A 70-year-old man was allegedly burnt to death by his son in West Bengal’s Nadia district for refusing to give his son a share of the money he had earned by selling some trees, police said.

The incident took place at Rabanbar village under the jurisdiction of Ranaghat police station on Friday night, a police officer said.

Baidyanath Biswas (70) had sold some trees for Rs 90,000 and his son Abodh Biswas wanted his share.

Abodh allegedly poured petrol on his father while he was sleeping and burnt him to death.

His mother Saraswati Biswas received burn injuries while she made an effort to save Baidyanath.

Abodh also received burn injuries as he tried to save his mother, the police officer said.

All of them were taken to Ranaghat Anulia Hospital where Baidyanath was declared brought dead.

While his wife was sent to Kalyani JNM Hospital, Abodh was admitted to the Ranaghat Anulia Hospital, police said.
