A man was shot at in Agra on Saturday after he refused to reveal which candidate he had voted for in the first phase of Uttar Pradesh election.
The injured youth has been admitted to hospital and his brother has registered a case against the accused, who also filed a cross case. Police suspect the youngsters were consuming alcohol when the incident occurred.
Anil Tomar, a resident of Foundry Nagar here, lodged an FIR at Itimad-ud-daula police station that his brother Vinay Tomar was in Shobha Nagar on Saturday night when Rahul Gautam, Vishnu Gautam and Raju Chaudhary intercepted him and asked him which candidate he had voted for.
The complainant said that when Tomar refused to give the information, the accused beat him up and fired at him before running away. Tomar was then taken to SN Hospital for treatment and was stable.
“A case has been registered against Rahul, Vishnu and Raju under Section 147, 323, 504 and 506 of IPC. They have also lodged an FIR against Vinay whom they accuse of beating them with his associates after a brawl,” said Narendra Singh, the incharge of Itimad-ud-daula police station in Agra.
Ragvendra Singh, the investigating officer (IO), said the victim and the accused were having drinks together. They had a dispute, which led to the firing. No arrests have been made in the case so far.
