Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah on Wednesday contacted Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and received updates on the Baramati plane crash in which Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and five others were killed, the Maharashtra government said, reported ANI.
Ajit Pawar was travelling to his hometown Baramati in Pune district to address four public meetings ahead of the Zilla Parishad polls.

Besides Ajit Pawar, those killed in the plane crash included his security staff member Vidhit Jadhav, pilots Sumit Kapur and Shambhavi Pathak, and another passenger, Pinki Jadhav, officials said.Ajit Pawar death news updates
According to flight details, the aircraft took off from Mumbai at 8:10 am and was scheduled to land at Baramati at 8:50 am.
The crash occurred at 8:48 am when a Lear Jet 45 aircraft, VT-SSK, carrying Pawar from Mumbai to Baramati went off the runway while attempting to land at Baramati airport and burst into flames. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that Pawar, two members of his security staff and two crew members were on board the aircraft and that all six died in the incident.

Pune Superintendent of Police Sandeep Gill said, “We have so far taken six bodies to hospital. When the plane crashed, we recovered three bodies first.” Kiran Gurjar, a close aide of Pawar, also confirmed the deaths, saying, “All six people including Ajit Pawar brought dead.”
Baramati airport manager Shivaji Taware told Hindustan Times that “the aircraft VT SSK was attempting landing and the aircraft went on the side of the runway and exploded on crashing,” adding that it was a Lear Jet 45 chartered from Mumbai.
The Baramati airport, earlier operated by a private entity, was recently handed over to the Maharashtra Airport Development Company.
