Amid Gujarat trouble, Amit Shah to give pep talk to BJP CMs on August 27

BJP chief Amit Shah has called chief ministers of party-ruled states to Delhi on August 27 for a “stock taking” exercise and give them a pep talk on governance and political issues.

Trouble in Gujarat has woken up the BJP to challenges in other states under its rule.

BJP chief Amit Shah has called chief ministers of party-ruled states to Delhi on August 27 for a “stock taking” exercise and give them a pep talk on governance and political issues.

Ahead of the meet, Shah invited the core group of the party in different states for a brain storming session on August 23.

“It is almost two years of Shah taking over reins of the party. He has been keeping an eye on the performance of these governments. It’s time for a stock taking and giving these chief ministers some pep talk,” a BJP source told HT.

BJP has chief ministers in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Goa, Rajasthan and Assam. It has chief ministers from alliance partners in J&K, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Nagaland.

BJP won Jharkhand, Haryana, Assam, Maharashtra and formed a coalition government in Jammu & Kashmir under the duo of Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The leadership has concerns about Chhattisgarh, which goes to vote next year.

Shah is also expected to ask nine BJP-ruled states to speed up the process of getting the GST bill ratified by their assemblies.
