Another armyman's proposal goes viral amid row over captain, his partner

After videos of an Indian Army captain proposing to his partner at a passing-out parade at an aviation training school in Nashik grabbed headlines, another similar video is now gaining traction on social media.

The clip, shared by news agency ANI on its Instagram account, shows an Indian Army personnel proposing to a woman dressed in a blue saree. According to the caption accompanying the video, the proposal came as a surprise and was captured shortly after a ceremonial event.

HT could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

The video quickly drew reactions from social media users, with some describing the gesture as heartwarming while others questioned whether such displays were appropriate and news worthy.

Proposal that triggered debate

The latest clip comes days after videos of a newly commissioned Indian Army captain - Bharat Bhardwaj - proposing to his partner after a passing-out parade went viral, attracting national attention.

While many praised the gesture as a memorable personal moment, others raised concerns about military decorum and the use of photographs and videos taken within a defence establishment. Reports suggested that the Army was likely to seek an explanation from the officer regarding the social media circulation of the proposal.

At the same time, several retired senior military officers publicly defended the young captain, arguing that the incident did not amount to a serious breach of security and criticising what they viewed as an excessive reaction.

The proposals took place at the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CAATS) in Nashik, one of the Indian Army's premier aviation training institutions.

It is one of the training institutes for the Indian Army. The institute comes under the ARTRAC – Army Training Command, Shimla – with trainees including Indian Army officers.

This includes personnel from Indian Navy, women officers, and military officers from friendly foreign countries. Pilots trained at CAATS can then specialise in Pilots trained at CAATS go on to specialize in tactical operations such as paradrops, search and rescue, special forces insertion, and critical medical and supply missions in high-altitude environments like the Siachen Glacier.
