Four people were killed and two others critically injured after a private bus hit six people standing by the roadside near the Patla Pir religious site in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Saturday night, police said.
The devotees were returning home after offering prayers at the religious site when the accident occurred around 8 pm. Three of the injured died during treatment on Saturday night, while another died on Sunday morning.
The condition of the remaining two injured persons is reported to be critical. The injured are receiving treatment at the SRG Hospital in Jhalawar.
Police identified the deceased as Hamid Khan, Talib and Rehan, all residents of Ramganj Mandi in Kota district, and Alfaz (25), a resident of Govind Nagar in Kota.
Police said the bus involved in the accident had also brought devotees to Patla Pir. It allegedly went out of control while returning from the religious site. Preliminary investigation suggests that rain and slippery road conditions may have caused the driver to lose control, although police have not yet officially confirmed the cause, an officer said.
