India's daily tally of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) breached the 200,000-mark on Thursday with 200,739 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the highest single day spike since the beginning of the pandemic last year. More than 1,000 deaths were reported for a second consecutive day, according to the data from the Union health ministry's dashboard.
