The Delhi Legislative Assembly received a bomb threat email on Tuesday morning, and it later turned out to be a hoax, police said.
The threat was received around 8:30am, following which security agencies were alerted and necessary checks were initiated, they said.
According to people aware of the development, assembly speaker Vijender Gupta received the email. After an extensive search, nothing suspicious was found, they added.

“The email threatened to blow up the assembly office. Soon after the email was flagged to us, we sent bomb detection teams and bomb squad to the spot. Inspection is being conducted. Nothing has been found yet” said a senior police officer.
Past security breach
On April 6, a man driving a car rammed through the entrance gate of the Vidhan Sabha, broke through boom barriers, got down from his vehicle, placed a bouquet inside Speaker Gupta’s car, and then drove away. Police later arrested the accused, Sarabjit Singh, from north Delhi.
